El Dorado ( The Golden One)

The Muiscas raft /Chibchas indigenous civilization during the period of 1000 BCE to 500 CE Bogota, Colombia. The Zipa who was aboard a raft and covered with gold dust, tossed gold objects into the Guatavita lake as offerings to the gods, before immersing himself into the lake as part of the Muisca tradition.
Spanish conquistadors, fueled by their desire for gold, transformed this ritual into a legend of a city overflowing with riches, thus creating the myth of El Dorado. The legend led to numerous expeditions, including those led by Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada and Sir Walter Raleigh, but El Dorado was never found.
However, the golden Muisca raft was found in a cave as part of an offering, becoming a national emblem for Colombia.
